Authentically Austin Restaurants for Kids

Here are just a few of my favorite Austin restaurants that are conducive to kiddos!

Waterloo Ice House www.waterlooicehouse.com

My favorite location with a playground is the one off of 360 and 2222.
It has a huge backyard with a playground and huge sandbox full of toys. It is fenced in so little ones can't run off and you and the other adults with you can sit outside and enjoy a beer and some good food while the kiddos play nearby.

Phil's Ice House www.philsicehouse.com

This location is on Lamar. It is a combination Amy's Ice Cream - Burger Joint. The burgers and sandwiches, which are named for Austin zip codes, are gourmet and are truly delicious. I have had the fish sandwich as well and was not disappointed. It has that great funky Austin feel. You can sit inside, in a diner style decor, or outside on the many tables surrounding the playscape and play area complete with painted cows and a spinning teacup.

The County Line www.countyline.com

Although they do not have play areas, these are great restaurants to take kids. The food is amazing and there is a lot to see. County Line on the Hill, is located off Bee Caves Road, west of 360. It has a great view and a large back patio that is fun for the kids to explore.

The County Line on the Lake has a big backyard to explore where you can feed the turtles that swim up to the bank and there is sometimes live music.

These are just a few of my favorites that both parents and kids can enjoy and get a truly Austin experience! Please comment with any other suggestions of places you love that are authentically Austin and great for kids.

My new blog

I am a mom that lives in Austin, TX. A native to Austin, I have spent many years in the Hill Country and truly feel that it is a part of my soul. I love it's rich history and landscape and love to explore.

I decided to start my own blog filled with fun events that are kid and family friendly around Austin and the surrounding Hill Country area! I was tired of constantly searching different websites and finding nothing of interest, so I decided to start my own blog.

I welcome any ideas from readers and hope that this is a fun helpful resource for people.

Thanks and Enjoy!

Sally
